I am about 45 hours away from having my hair cut pre-surgery. I’ve looked back at photos taken within a few days after my last brain surgery in January 2006. Of course, at that time I didn’t know I’d be having surgery when I came to the hospital, so there was no chance to pre-cut. The shaved head in the photos looks a little radical, but I’ve been told by people who would know that things will be much easier going forward without hair to deal with in surgery and radiation.
The surgeon at Rush told me he would be following the line of the last incision, which means a line starting in the middle of my forehead at the hairline and going in an arc to just above my left ear. He described it as a reverse Mohawk with a twist. And even with that description, my brother John thinks I should just have the surgeon shave the path he needs, about 1 !/2” wide, and then comb my hair over!!
To meet my stylist’s schedule AND my surgeons’, I will be walking around pretty bald for two days before surgery. That will be interesting.
